FAO Simon: Summer Speed Painting: The Dragon Queen
Having watched Game of Thrones recently, it was rather difficult to get Daenerys Targaryen, The Mother of Dragons, out of my mind. I did look at 'fire' characters such as Prince Zuko from Avatar and Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist (Who has nothing to do with fire but his characteristics do put me in mind of fire a lot). I tried to keep the reptilian aspect to a minimum and wanted the eyes to pop out. She does breathe fire, don't worry. I wouldn't say she is a dragon, really. But she has the traits of one. Hope you like it!

FAO Simon: Summer Speed Painting: The Crystal Maze
Step into this labyrinth of Pyrite and other crystal. It is the Kingdom Of Light where the rays make you see things that you want to believe. The trick is knowing what is real and what isn't. Good luck getting out.....
I hope you like my interpretation of 'The Crystal Maze". Let me know what you think =)

Hands and Nerves: Research: Much Better Now
This stop motion video has really given me some ideas regarding the going about of things:
Much Better Now from Salon Alpin on Vimeo.
And here is the 'Making Of'video:

Hands and Nerves: Research: Hudson- Against The Grain
I'm just checking out stop motion animations, really. I was very attracted to this video due to the clever use of objects to depict the story.

Hand and Nerves: Research: Professor Kliq- Wire and Flashing Lights
In order to make things out of materials such as wire, I decided to watch some videos of stop motion animation to gain some confidence and assure myself of its possibility. I found a rather cool video which I would like to share:

Hands and Nerves: The First Wave of Concepts
What has got me started is the song Dirty Paws by the band Of Monsters and Men
I have interpreted it as a song about a war between animals. I'm pretty sure that it has some metaphorical meaning and so I am going to go all out. I'm trying to create landscapes using simple shapes with colours that stand out in a war struck landscape. I have these three concepts right now and will be looking into manipulating materials such as string, wire and fabric to create bits of the landscape that I can move around in the set using stop-motion animation.

Hands and Nerves: A Summer Project
To keep myself occupied during the summer, I wanted to try my hand at some stop motion animation. I want to create environments out of fabric and maybe use paper and clay as the materials for the characters. I just want to get my hands dirty and experiment, really. So I'm looking into the work of Rowan Mersh who creates sculptures by manipulating fabric. He has some pretty wicked pieces and they are definitely triggering ideas.

FOA Simon: Summer Speed Painting: Bathory's Castellan
Hello! After a rather silent couple of weeks, I have returned with a speed painting!
This one is Bathory's Castellan. He's more the guardian of the moving castle that is Barthory's spaceship in a sci-fi spin off of history.
Let me know what you think!
